The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown is a good read. I tried to read the Da Vinci Code; simply couldn’t. It was so boring that I simply couldn’t get into it. Then I read Angels and Demons and was completely STUNNED that it was same author. Angels and Demons was a fun action adventure that was eminently readable.
The Lost Symbol is about Masonic history (real or imagined), Truth, the leadership of the US, and Washington. Mixed together with kidnapping, the CIA, severed hands, murder, secret research at the Smithsonian . . . . and a way to drown without dying!
As usual the details of ALL the plot twists is mind boggling; but the foundational mythology and the unfolding of the layers of secrets, as well as the interconnectedness; makes for a thrilling read. Like some other recent books, I wasn’t DRIVEN to finish it in an afternoon; but I did wan to finish it. Ultimately, you know the end; but it is the unfolding that drives the plot.
