Well, in case you are wondering . . . I am NOT.
Let’s focus on Female Lead Relationships (FLR) this week. I find it so interesting that this is a topic; as if it was so unique. In most relationships someone leads; but that it is a woman is SO noteworthy that gender is part of the descriptor. We don’t say Male Led Relationship; because it is ASSUMED. I think FLR is a term that will have a limited shelf-life. As it becomes more the norm overtime; FLR will seem dated.
Girls, young women, etc (as a group) are currently doing all the things they need to find the place in the world they want. It doesn’t mean that in 50 years all the Fortune 500 companies will be lead by women; it means that women will have CONTROL over what they want and choices will be theirs for the taking.
The Generation M Manifesto is about living a different sort of life; one filled with meaning, purpose, and people. I am hopeful that Generation M will start to realize some of this; for men, women, transgendered, gender fluid, and more.
We must learn to be accepting of others; to allow people space to be themselves; to allow yourself to explore to try to fail; and allow others all the same “privileges” without judgment. Tough call to action; but a worthy one.
